About this unit:

6 North is a Cardiovascular inpatient unit within Butterworth Hospital that specializes in caring for adult patients with Heart Failure cardiac dysrhythmias newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators pulmonary hypertension and cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring.

Scope of Work

Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

The Nursing Technician role is a fast-paced role requiring strong communication and teamwork skills regardless of the department you are working in.

This is a direct patient care role and duties will include rounding to care for up to 12 patients per shift Checking Blood Sugar Wound Care/dressing changes Bed bathing Toileting Ambulating Catheterization and acting as safety attendant for patients as needed. Additionally you could be involved in Postmortem care.

Cleans patients environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.

Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy confidentiality and security of patient staff and organization data.

Orientation

Orientation weeks will require flexibility to train during weekdays and rotational weekends.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalentexperience required

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Required within 90 days
