The City of Topeka is seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join its Information Technology team. This position plays a critical role in managing and maintaining Citys SQL-based database systems ensuring data integrity security and performance across all departments.
What youll do:
- Manage the full database management lifecycle including design implementation monitoring backup and recovery.
- Implement and enforce database security policies in compliance with government standards.
- Lead or support systems integration projects.
- Perform regular audits to ensure data accuracy consistency and compliance.
The ideal candidate is:
- A self-starter with a strong technical foundation.
- An excellent communicator.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex problems and make sound decisions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field is required OR
- An Associates degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field is acceptable WITH two years of SQL Server database administration experience OR
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent is acceptable WITH four years of SQL Server database administration experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Power BI SSRS SAP Crystal Reports Tableau Dash Cognos or similar reporting tools is required.
- Microsoft SQL Server certification for RDBMS databases (e.g. MCSA MCSE) is preferred.
- Experience in a government or public sector IT environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards (e.g. CJIS NIST or other governmental security requirements) is preferred.
- Must be able to pass an extensive background check.
Annual Entry Salary: $63865 - $76638
