Are you ready to take the lead in keeping Oregons rest areas safe welcoming and well-maintained for thousands of travelers every day The Travel Information Council (TIC) is seeking a Rest Area Supervisor to manage operations at the Sunset and Tillamook River Rest Areas. This is a hands-on leadership role where youll supervise staff coordinate contractors and ensure these essential public facilities run smoothly.
This posting is for Sunset (US26 31 miles east of Seaside) and Tillamook River (US101 5 miles south of Tillamook) Rest Areas.
What Youll Do
As the Rest Area Supervisor youll be the boots-on-the-ground leader ensuring visitors have a clean safe and enjoyable experience while keeping operations running efficiently. Youll have a visible direct impact on the public every day. Key responsibilities include:
Perform or oversee janitorial duties including cleaning restrooms trash removal and maintaining high standards of hygiene and appearance.
Perform or oversee landscaping and groundskeeping tasks including mowing planting snow removal and general upkeep to ensure a welcoming environment.
Lead and supervise rest area staff including hiring training scheduling and performance feedback.
Maintain facilities grounds and utility systems performing or overseeing repairs inspections and preventive maintenance.
Monitor water wastewater electrical and other systems for safe efficient operation.
Manage budgets purchases and inventory to keep operations cost-effective.
Interact with the traveling public promoting compliance with rest area rules and providing exceptional customer service.
Collaborate with volunteers partners and other agencies to plan improvements and ensure smooth operations.
Respond to emergencies report incidents and take appropriate action to maintain safety.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of management lead work or supervisory experience which includes customer service (e.g. supervising personnel scheduling performance evaluation hiring recommendation practices of employee relations etc.) AND maintenance experience (e.g. construction trades landscaping);
OR
A Bachelors degree AND 18 months of management lead work or supervisory experience which includes customer service (e.g. supervising personnel scheduling performance evaluation hiring recommendation practices of employee relations etc.) AND maintenance experience (e.g. construction trades landscaping);
OR
An Associates degree AND 2 years of management lead work or supervisory experience including customer service (e.g. supervising personnel scheduling performance evaluation hiring recommendation practices of employee relations etc.) AND maintenance experience (e.g. construction trades landscaping);
OR
Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Special Qualifications:
Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
Must live within 60 minutes of the assigned rest area(s).
Desired Attributes:
Experience managing staff including coaching training and giving feedback.
Knowledge of groundskeeping building systems safety protocols and preventive maintenance.
Comfortable interacting with the public and resolving challenging situations professionally.
Ability to assess issues consider options and implement solutions efficiently.
Experience overseeing expenses purchases and inventory to keep operations running smoothly.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and other digital tools for reporting communication and tracking work.
Able to work independently respond to emergencies and adapt to variable schedules.
Working Conditions
Work indoors and outdoors often alone with frequent public interaction.
May work weekends holidays evenings long hours or respond on short notice.
Regular travel between rest areas; occasional overnight travel for meetings/training.
Exposure to environmental hazards allergens odors and human/animal waste.
On-call schedule with a 60-minute maximum response time to emergencies.

*The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%.
