Position overview:
MSCI Equity Indexes are maintained with the objective of reflecting the evolution of the underlying equity markets on a timely basis.
The Corporate Events Team is responsible for daily maintenance of index by reflecting impact of ongoing corporate events like M&As spin-offs bankruptcies reorganizations and other corporate actions (e.g. stock splits rights offerings dividends etc.) following the principles of replicability consistency continuity and minimizing turnover.
Depending on the nature of the corporate action there may be changes in index memberships weights size style and industry classifications.
The team is responsible for timely identification review and assessing the replication considerations of corporate action related changes in client portfolios in order to facilitate appropriate maintenance of the Equity Indexes.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring activity in underlying allocated markets to capture relevant corporate events.
- Responsible for accurate implementation of these corporate events in MSCI Indexes following the principles of replicability consistency continuity and minimizing turnover.
- For complex corporate actions make presentations with proposed implementation to senior decision-making Committees like the MSCI Equity Index Committee.
- Ensure that the corporate actions are properly implemented in the calculation of the MSCI Indexes and are reflected in MSCI Equity products
- Liaise with the Index Management Research team for corporate actions having impact on Quarterly and Semi-Annual Index Rebalancing.
- Handle client queries related to corporate actions and Equity Benchmark methodology
- Tracking the evolution of allocated markets including any change in regulation/new types of corporate events and make proposals to update client methodology and participate in client consultation.
- Contribute to further improvising processes and applications used by the corporate events team.
- Participate in and initiate projects related to the corporate events function.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
- Strong interest in Finance work experience in finance and capital markets preferred
- Ability to summarize complex transactions and understanding of the practical aspects of index replication
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with good logical aptitude
- Ability to effectively work with diverse cultures in a global team; sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural norms/styles. Flexible in working hours
- Independent worker as well as good team player with a strong sense of ownership
- 2-4 years of relevant working experience
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Finance Economics or Mathematics (Including equivalents of CA CFA FRM MMS MBA). Engineering degree is preferred.
