Part-Time Residential Aide East New York

Compensation: $17/hr

Overview:

The Residential Aide (RA) ensures the wellbeing and safety of the programs clients and staff during their shifts. The RA provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential safety and security. The RA works in shifts from 8am to 4pm 4pm to 12am 12am-8am (give-or-take one hour based on the residence to which they are assigned). An RA may also work 12am-12pm or 12:00pm-12:00am. The schedule operates 7 days a week and all holidays as needed.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

• Makes sure that the programs Code of Conduct is enforced and adhered to by program clients.

Secondary:

• Build rapport with program clients and engage with them professionally and respectfully.
• When necessary de-escalate tense even hostile client situations
• Arrive prepared for bi-weekly supervisions by submitting questions and talking points to the supervisor in advance of each supervisory meeting.
• Work with your direct supervisor to create and sign off on a professional development plan.
• Complete Narcan training.

Other functions that may be required with this position include:

• Ensure the safety security and integrity of all residents and guests as well as the physical environment of the facility.
• Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
• Always provide excellent customer service and confidentiality.
• Communicate with the clinical staff on resident behavior as well as the care of those on the fragile list.
• Provide screenings for all visitors staff and clients who enter subject to Housing Works requirements.
• Write and submit Shift Reports at the end of every shift in accordance with the departments requirements.
• Write and submit Incident Reports in accordance with Housing Workspolicy and procedures and when necessary testify in court about the contents of said reports after being prepped by Housing Worksattorneys.
• Distribute meals to program clients when needed and help unpack and properly store meals that are delivered to the site as per the sites requirements.
• Perform light custodial work consisting of cleaning tables chairs minor spills and removal of trash.
• During inclement weather remove snow and ice from the buildings property in accordance with NYC requirements using shovels salt and if applicable a snow blower.
• Enthusiastically participate in advocacy and direct actions to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred and at least one year of work experience.
• Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.
