Build Tech That Millions Rely On
With 22 million digitally active customers and a tech transformation underway were not tinkering at the edges. Were reinventing how banking and finance works and as a Technology Engineering Industrial Placement youll be right at the heart of it.

Were one of the biggest investors in technology putting up to 3bn a year into new tools apps platforms and new ways of working. Weve set ourselves the challenge of building banking thats safer smarter and simpler for everyone.

This is where theory meets action. You wont just code youll create test and deploy solutions that millions rely on every day. Youll focus on engineering development and deployment the practical build of the solutions that bring ideas to life.

One important note: if your passion lies in AI and machine learning this isnt the scheme for you. Those roles sit within our Data Science and AI MSc Industrial Placement Scheme. Please speak to your University for further information.

Real impact from day one
Aligned to one platform (like Cloud Services or Digital Banking) for the period of your placement youll have the opportunity to join feature teams to have first-hand experience of the software development life cycle.

You may obtain hands-on experience in:
Software Engineering coding in Java Python C# JavaScript Kotlin Swift.
DevOps building pipelines and automating releases.
Quality Assurance testing refining and improving customer journeys.

This isnt work experience. This is work that matters - from improving mobile banking journeys to strengthening customer security and delivering value to millions every day.

The skills youll master
By the end of your Masters placement youll be on your way to gaining real experience in:
Engineering-ready skilled in coding testing and delivering at pace.
Agile-minded comfortable working in sprints squads and labs.
Customer-focused building tech that meets real needs.
Collaboration-driven experienced in cross-functional teamwork.

Along the way you may have the opportunity to take part in hackathons (sponsored by the likes of Google and Microsoft) showcase your skills at awards and even help shape the future of the scheme itself through feedback and innovation challenges.

Requirements
What you need to apply

This new programme is part of our strategic partnership with Bristol Edinburgh Manchester and Imperial London universities.

We welcome applications exclusively from students who will have completed a Masters Degree by September 2027 at one of the universities listed above.

If you are enrolled on an integrated masters or accepted for Masters study to commence in September 2026 then please ensure you have correctly answered the application question Are you in your penultimate year of study as Yes.

This placement will run from April-May until September 2026 start and end dates are flexible around your course timetable.

If you do not meet these requirements then please dont worry we still have plenty of other opportunities available on our graduate website.
We strongly recommend the ability to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge understanding and technical skills aligned to the role. Some aspects of this will be assessed through the application process.
Knowledge of at least one modern programming language or framework.
A genuine passion for technology and the drive to keep learning.

We are unable to provide sponsorship and you must have full unlimited right to work.

Locations
Bristol Edinburgh and Manchester. With our hybrid working policy all colleagues spend at least two days a week in the office.
