Overview
The Research Administrator for the Biomedical and Translational Science Department will provide administrative and budget support to the departments research faculty with federal state and internal addition the position will function as a liaison between research faculty and the Old Dominion University Research Foundation (ODURF.)
Responsibilities
- Utilize available resources to gather information and troubleshoot issues as needed to assist faculty with grant submissions.
- Develop a strong positive working relationship with the pre and post award team members of Old Dominion University Research Foundation.
- Work with PIs and ODURF team members to develop budgets for submissions awarded projects and grant renewals.
Submit and monitor labor distributions of research staff supported by grants.
Assist research faculty with ODURF procurement and HR hiring concerns.
Maintain and post a grant submission/renewal calendar for major sponsors.
Qualifications
Required:
- Time managementwith the ability tomultitask and prioritize.
- Financial understanding to review budgets developed as Excel spreadsheets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn the policies and guidelines of federal state and internal funding opportunities.
- Proficiency inMicrosoft Office Suiteand commitment to learn relevant software and online portals:grant application portals financial management systems and the ODURF website.
Preferred:
- A bachelors degree is preferred and with prior experience in an administrative role in an academic/ research environment.
