Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Health & Social Care Teacher to join a high-achieving secondary school in Reading from January 2026. This is a full-time permanent role ideal for an educator who strives to inspire and prepare students for careers in health social work and community care.

The Health & Social Care department is a cornerstone of the sixth form curriculum offering both BTEC and A-Level pathways that achieve excellent results and student satisfaction rates.

The department is led by an experienced Head of Faculty who places great emphasis on practical application vocational learning and real-world relevance. Partnerships with local healthcare providers and universities further enrich the curriculum and provide valuable work-related learning experiences for students.

The Role
You will:

  • Teach Health & Social Care across KS4 and KS5.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that combine theory with practical case studies.
  • Support students in developing key skills such as empathy communication and professionalism.
  • Contribute to continuous curriculum development and departmental improvement.
  • Play an active role in mentoring and supporting learners through coursework and career guidance.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A degree in Health & Social Care or a related subject.
  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging lessons and achieve excellent outcomes.
  • A commitment to vocational excellence and inclusive education.

Salary
Paid to scale (MPS/UPS).
