Job Description

Contract & Start: Permanent Full-Time January 2026

About the RoleThis leading Independent Co-educational School in Barnet is seeking a dynamic and aspiring Geography Early Career Teacher (ECT) for a permanent full-time role commencing January 2026. This is a unique opportunity to complete the induction period within a highly academic well-resourced independent setting. The successful candidate will join a Humanities department committed to delivering scholarly rigour and providing tailored mentorship to ensure the ECTs smooth transition into professional practice.

Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging and challenging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5 fostering high-level analytical skills and global awareness in all students.
  • Benefit fully from the schools bespoke ECT mentorship program receiving regular guidance from a senior colleague and scheduled non-teaching time for focused development.
  • Contribute to the departments academic life including field trips societies and enrichment programs.
  • Maintain meticulous records of student progress and engagement providing high-quality feedback.
  • Uphold the high academic and professional standards of the school environment.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or pending QTS in Geography.
  • A deep passion for the subject and commitment to achieving scholarly rigour in the classroom.
