Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering team and customers to understand control system and machine requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in selecting suitable controls hardware
  • Create tests and debugs industrial control software: Ladder Logic C# Aero Basic etc.
  • Design and develop functional user interfaces using C# or dedicated UI hardware and software including Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms.
  • Develop system architectures wiring diagrams and control panel layouts. Proficient ability using SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Develop desktop software when CoTS solutions do not exist.
  • Develop plug-ins and interfaces to allow easy communication with minimally supported hardware.
  • Provide technical support during installation commissioning and customer training.

**The duties and responsibilities as described above may be supplemented by other duties needed to help drive to our organizations Vision and Core Values.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in software engineering computer science controls engineering robotics engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley Siemens and similar).
  • Ability to design and program effective and ergonomic user interfaces.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other employees customers and vendors.
  • Self-sufficient and independent work style with general supervision.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and motion control solutions.
  • Knowledge of industrial control communications such as Profibus ProfiNet TCP/IP Serial and EtherCAT.
  • Knowledge of G code.
  • Experience with a variety of industrial controls vendors such as Siemens Automation Direct Aerotech SMC Keyence etc.
  • Some mechanical design background/understanding.
  • 2-5 years of experience with control systems.
  • Familiarity with laser systems and/or motion systems.
