The Opportunity:
This is an internal recruitment open to current regular probationary/trial service and limited duration employees or those in a paid or unpaid internship program at the time of recruitment who are in paid status on approved leave or on an active recall list.
Temporary and on-call employees in Local 88 may apply for an internal recruitment if they were hired through a competitive civil service process.
Temporary and on-call employee who are not in Local 88 may apply for an internal recruitment if all of the following conditions are met:
The employee was hired into the current temporary or on-call position via a competitive recruitment and selection process consistent with the countys Personnel Rules;
The employee has worked in an on-call and/or temporary capacity at least five hundred (500) hours within twelve (12) months preceding the date of application;
The recruitment is for a position in their current department; and
The recruitment will not result in a promotion to a job class with a higher maximum salary rate.
Main responsibilities include:
Assess needs
Identify resources
Triage with other service providers and partners
Screen and refer people for specific programs
Follow up and advocacy for vulnerable clients
The eligible list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future regular limited duration temporary on-call full or part-time assignments at any of our locations.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Ability to promote a culture of respect inclusiveness and appreciation of diverse perspectives backgrounds and values
Education/Training: Associates degree or equivalent practical experience
Experience: Three (3) years of direct experience working with a diverse group of people in need of services
Must pass a criminal background check
AIRS Certification or ability to become certified within one year of hire

Type of Position: This AFSCME Local 88 union-represented full-time position is eligible for overtime.
Schedule and location: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. This position offers a routine teleworking schedule after initial training and orientation however the incumbent must reside in Oregon or Washington. The onsite work location for this position is at the Five Oak Building: 209 SW 4th Ave. Portland OR 97204 (West County Branch).
Serving the Public Even During Disasters
Everyday Multnomah County staff work together to serve as a safety net for our communities. During a disaster this safety net becomes even more critical. All County employees have a role in serving the public during inclement weather natural disaster or other types of community emergency response. During these emergency responses while typically there begins with a call for volunteers county employees may ultimately be reassigned from their current position to a role in the emergency response in order to support the critical needs presented by our communities.
