The City of Oxnards Police Departmentis seeking aPolice Records Technicianto work in our Police Records Unit which operates 24/7/365 to administratively support law enforcement field operations and the public we serve.
WHAT YOULL DO:
Processes law enforcement-related paperwork; enters updates processes verifies and maintains police records database information forms applications reviews or contacts appropriate resource for clarification of information provided
Verifies accuracy and completeness of forms and information provided
Provides customer service in person and over the phone by responding to inquiries and information requests from the public law enforcement officers and/or other agencies
Provides information in accordance with applicable laws policies and procedures
May collect fees
Performs routine data queries
Compiles data from logs
Prepares routine report
Works with a variety of computer software applications law enforcement data systems and office equipment

Processes law enforcement-related paperwork; enters updates processes verifies transcribes word processes and maintains police records database information forms applications and/or dictated reports; reviews or contacts appropriate resource for clarification of information provided; and verifies accuracy and completeness of forms and information provided.
Provides customer service by responding to inquiries and information requests from the public law enforcement officers and/or other agencies; provides information in accordance with applicable laws policies and procedures; may collect fees; refers more complex or specialized requests to appropriate resource.
Performs routine data queries; compiles data from logs system records and related information; and prepares routine reports.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
The following are the minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification:

Selected candidate(s)are required to undergo an extensive background investigation and polygraph examination.
UNION MEMBERSHIP:Positions in this classification are represented by theService Employees International Union (SEIU).
NOTE:For most positions the City of Oxnard relies on office automation (Microsoft Office/Google) and web-based enabled tools therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
Regular and reliable attendance effective communication skills and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all positions.
Employees are required to participate in the Citys direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
This position requires a 12 month probationary period.
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 3100 all public employees are required to serve as disaster service workers subject to such disaster service activities as may be assigned to them.
