We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as a Weights and Measures Inspector Apprentice and were prepared to invest in your future through a structured apprenticeship. Our Weights and Measures Inspectors travel to every community in Montana impacting nearly everyone who lives and travels through the state. This position involves inspecting testing and certifying all types of weighing devicesfrom truck scales to livestock scales deli scales and even cannabis scales. We ensure their accuracy to promote a fair and equitable marketplace.
Inspectors typically work a 4-day 10-hour schedule with flexible options available. A successful candidate will be comfortable operating and driving large trucks pickups and various types of test equipment. This work takes place across diverse geographical settings and in all kinds of weather conditions.
This position is for someone who loves traveling Montana! Possible living locations could be in Central Montana area. The successful candidate will be assigned a work area and will travel to assigned locations within their region.
This role involves frequent travel up to five days per week

The successful candidate will be placed into our apprenticeship based on their existing experience and qualifications. Heres a quick overview of how you can progress through our Weights and Measures Inspector Apprenticeship:
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to learn the Weights and Measures Laws Administrative Rules and Handbooks 44 130 and 133 and a demonstrated ability to apply these laws/rules/codes effectively in the field. This role requires not only technical expertise but also interpersonal skills to navigate complex interactions with consumers retailers Registered Service Agencies their employees and other stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with a strong mix of the attributes listed in the above Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) are desired. Candidates may demonstrate competency in the KSAs through at least 6 months of experience formal education (including certificates or credentials.) or a combination of the two. Candidates should clearly describe how their experience and education meets the identified KSAs and provide examples in their cover letter that demonstrate their qualifications.
Any combination of equivalent experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.

Candidates who already hold one or more of the certifications listed below will be evaluated and placed at the appropriate level within the apprenticeship.
