Job Description Summary
Dr. Natalia Sánchez in the Department of Physical Therapy at Chapman University in Irvine CA is seeking an hourly DPT student- research assistant to support studies of human walking in individuals post-stroke and individuals without neurologic or orthopedic injury. The primary aim of the lab is to understand the individual factors that shape walking function and how these factors change after injury. We take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of human movement by combining techniques and principles from engineering neuroscience biomechanics and exercise physiology. Research assistants will have access to the following equipment: 1) a Motek GRAIL integrated dual-belt treadmill motion capture system and VR environment 2) a metabolic cart 4) a telemetered EMG system.
Responsibilities
Assisting with study paperwork and other administrative tasks Assisting with data collection Processing of motion data under supervision of principal investigator (Sanchez) at all times Data entry
Required Qualifications
In good academic standing in the Department of Physical Therapy Proficient in verbal and written communication Basic understanding of biomechanical principles and ability to apply them Basic understanding of Excel
