Were looking for an Expressive Therapist whos passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people (018 years) impacted by domestic and family violence. Based in Deception Bay youll deliver therapeutic support to those experiencing developmental trauma using expressive therapies to help them feel seen heard and safe.

Youll predominately work with children aged 08 referred from yourtown and community programs offering Filial and Family Therapy through creative and trauma-informed approaches. You will also provide support to yourtowns Glugor Young Parent Program through workshops and focused interventions with young parents and their children. This role blends counselling expressive modalities and relationship-based work within a strengths-focused framework.

What youll be doing:

Provide trauma-informed assessments and interventions for children and young people using creative and expressive modalities tailored to individual needs.
Develop and run both individual and group-based programs that support emotional healing and development aligned with best practice and child-centred approaches.
Use expressive therapies to build connection between parents and children and help families understand the therapeutic process and its benefits.
Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure coordinated holistic support for children and families.
Monitor therapeutic outcomes contribute to program evaluation and prepare clear timely reports for internal stakeholders.
Establish strong respectful connections with families referrers and community partners to support engagement and continuity of care.

what we are looking for

You hold tertiary qualifications in Psychology Social Work Behavioural Science or a related field with at least 3 years experience in expressive therapies. Youre also eligible for membership with a recognised professional body (e.g. ANZACATA).
You bring strong knowledge of child-centred practice trauma-informed care and expressive therapy approaches. You understand the impact of domestic and family violence on children and can deliver culturally and developmentally appropriate therapeutic responses.
You have experience developing facilitating and evaluating both individual and group-based therapeutic programs for children. Youre confident in using evidence-based approaches and contributing to program outcomes.
You work well within multidisciplinary teams and have experience in co-case management. You build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues families and external stakeholders.
Youre a clear communicator with strong organisational skills. You can prepare therapeutic reports contribute to evaluations and communicate effectively with children parents and professionals.
Youre confident in establishing new programs and working within defined guidelines. You bring initiative adaptability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
