Job Description
Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals grant commitments i.e. assays cell/tissue culture animal studies etc. Monitors results reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects enters and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience with standard in vitro and in vivo molecular biology and biochemistry related assays. This position will involve significant amounts of cell culture fluorescent microscopy and mouse model work. If a candidate does not have existing experience in these areas they are expected to be willing to learn and carryout such activities. Candidates are also expected to possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Attention to detail and to adherence to strict safety requirements for handling chemicals reagents and infectious agents is required.
Qualifications
Requires bachelors degree in biology chemistry other relevant science or an associates degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience. Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques equipment and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required. This position requires demonstrated writing skills.
