Essity operates in the professional hygiene industry where high-performance cleaning wipes are essential. One of the challenges we face is lintingwhen fibers or particles are left behind on surfaces after wiping.
Understanding the causes of linting and how different materials interact with various surfaces is critical to developing products that meet our customers needs. This thesis project addresses a real issue weve encountered and aims to generate actionable insights for future product development.
This thesis will explore the linting behaviour of nonwoven wipes on various surfaces aiming to understand how material structure and surface characteristics influence fiber release. The goal is to identify correlations between material properties and the tendency to leave particles behind.
Youll work with a range of nonwoven materials and test surfaces using methods for lint quantification friction testing and microscopy. The project includes experimental work data analysis and practical recommendations for product optimization.
The thesis is planned for the spring semester (JanuaryJune) and will be supported by experienced supervisors and access to relevant lab equipment.
