**Position Title: Point of Care Lab Technician**
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager the Point of Care Lab Technician conducts waived laboratory tests in a remote or mobile environment.
This role also entails the responsibility of monitoring the quality of reagents and ensuring the optimal functioning of instruments.
**Essential Functions:**
- Receives specimens from phlebotomists and couriers.
- May operate a delivery van to transport the mobile laboratory to areas with a high volume of STAT testing as required.
Enters patient demographics and test orders into the laboratory information system.
- Verifies quality control for each test prior to execution and reporting of patient results ensuring that the quality control measures are within acceptable limits. Issues regarding quality control must be reported to a supervisor or manager in real time.
- Conducts laboratory testing in various point of care areas which may encompass Chemistry Hematology Urinalysis Molecular and Coagulation testing.
- Performs data entry for test results. - Confirms abnormal results prior to their release and brings any test results that are deemed rare and improbable to the attention of a supervisor or manager.
- Executes blood collection procedures including venipuncture and capillary specimen collection.
- Processes specimens and logs requisitions as necessary.
- Closely monitors the STAT board to ensure that the turnaround time (TAT) for STAT tests meets established goals consistently.
- Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and ensures compliance with state regulations pertaining to documentation of lot numbers related to quality control and specimen records.
- Troubleshoots issues related to clients instruments or computer systems as necessary.
- Performs maintenance on automated instrumentation as required. - Records quality control results and maintains quality control records for all assays performed.
- Undertakes additional tasks and procedures within the scope of education training and abilities.
- Responsible for all clerical tasks associated with specimen integrity testing identification and reporting within the department.
- Adheres to all safety protocols as outlined in the safety manual.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
- A valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to operate a vehicle safely.
- Familiarity with laboratory processes and workflow is essential.
- Previous experience in phlebotomy and laboratory testing is preferred.
- A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Any certification or licensure as mandated by state requirements.
- For the State of California qualification as testing personnel for waived testing necessitates at a minimum a license as a medical laboratory technician or licensed vocational nurse.
**Job Requirements:**

- The candidate must possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- The ability to execute tasks and treatments with a high degree of accuracy and precision is essential.
