Sigma Technologies a leading engineering and design firm is seeking a skilled Power Distribution Field Technician to join our team. As a Field Technician you will play a crucial role in collecting accurate utility data inspecting infrastructure and ensuring the reliability of power distribution systems.

Initial Travel Expectations: The work area is initially focused in the areas listed as well as other nearby areas. This position requires overnight travel during the week depending on the location of the work assignment. This position requires the use of your own vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).

Upon offer acceptance newly hired Associates are required to come to our headquarters in Perrysburg OH for an initial 2-weeks in-person paid orientation and training period.


As a Field Technician your daily life may include:

  • Conduct field surveys and inspections of power poles/lines
  • Collect data on utility poles transformers and other infrastructure using industry-standard techniques
  • Utilize GIS software and other tools to map and analyze field data
  • Collaborate with internal Project Management Engineering and Design staff to ensure project success
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards
  • Interacting with customers to perform walkout kickoff/scope meetings and/or to assist in the preparation of bid documentation
  • Performing research to identify pole ownership right of way property rights and permit requirements for proposed
  • Communicating with outside parties to obtain right-of-way approvals and easements
  • Provides guidance to others for specific duties in software processes and procedures
  • Provides quality control review
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements


WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR

  • EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Prior experience is preferred but not required
  • The ability to read and comprehend engineering schematics is preferred
  • Knowledge of construction and planning procedures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work in all weather conditions
  • A willingness to travel overnight during the week as necessary
  • Dependable transportation and valid drivers license and insurance that meets our minimum requirements
  • The ability to pass a background check/drug test/driving record check
  • Being computer literate and comfortable using programs such as Microsoft Word Excel Outlook
  • Authorized to work in the United States

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to endure frequent/lengthy: Driving standing walking long distances (5 miles or more in a day) navigating rough terrain on foot and lifting/balancing objects that may weigh up to 40 lbs. and require the use of upper extremities and back muscles; work in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way.
  • Must be able to endure sitting for prolonged periods of time including driving in a vehicle.
  • Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as visually identifying inspecting and measuring objects as well as transcribing notes in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way; these activities require close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have the physical ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately often in a group setting.
  • Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
