The Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics is built on the principles of innovation integrity and service. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research and service. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program and collaborate with members of the Department and other faculty within the University and affiliated institutions to contribute to the teaching responsibilities of the department through existing or new courses and to contribute to the departments commitment to service within the School of Medicine the University of Washington and the greater Seattle community.

For this position the department anticipates a start date in late Summer or early Autumn 2025. The candidate is expected to develop an independent research particular this position will use human stem cell-derived models of neuromuscular disease to better understand the mechanisms that lead to muscle and neuronal dysfunction in these conditions. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor students and early-stage academic scientists. All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching research and service.
The base salary range for this position will be $104410 $130010 per year to commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Candidates must have a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field. Required skills for this position include expertise in neurophysiology and muscle physiology and/or stem cell biology and/or optogenetics and/or electrophysiology and/or bioengineering.
