Job Summary

LEVEL: Manager

JOB TITLE: REAL (Reaching Excellence as Leaders) Program Manager

FSLA Status: Exempt

PROGRAM AREA: Action Advocacy & Education

JOB OBJECTIVE: To manage and deliver the REAL program at Oasis Center; supervising staff and volunteers; work with community and corporate partners to ensure BIPOC males ages 13-17 receive Youth Violence Prevention resources and alternatives that will divert them from the Juvenile Justice System.


Management & Coordination

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate recruitment of new REAL group participants.
  • Coordinate and supervise the provision of service/learning and TOP prevention principles for young men ages 13-18 using high quality facilitation skills social emotional learning and student voice to select curriculum topics derived from the enhanced Teen Outreach Program (TOP) Curriculum.
  • Coordinate with community partners for guest speakers relevant to the voiced interests and needs of youth participants.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to offer enrichment service learning expungement trade credentialing entrepreneurship and college access for youth participants.
  • Coordinate relevant REAL leadership opportunities for program participants.
  • Collaborate with Juvenile Court and MNPS schools in the provision of diversion and prevention services through REAL.
  • Sustain communication with youth parents teachers and partners in order to ensure youth are receiving the support and guidance they need regarding school mental health employment and participation in Oasis Center programming.

Administration

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and adapt the current program curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of the program participants.
  • Provide leadership and supervise REAL staff and volunteers.
  • Support staff and the Sr. Director of Action & Advocacy and Education and V.P of AAE in collecting meaningful program evaluation and impact data.
  • Assist the Sr. Director of Action & Advocacy and Education and the V.P. of AAE in refining procedures for program operations.
  • Assist Sr. Director of Action & Advocacy and Education with monthly and quarterly program reporting needs.
  • Assist Sr. Director of Action & Advocacy and Education with ensuring overall program compliance and program performance.
  • Participate with Sr. Director of Action and Advocacy and Education & V.P. of AAE in the development of the budget and approve and monitor expenditure of funds accordingly.

Direct Services

Essential Functions:

  • Provide Middle School High School and GRIP group programming for program participants.
  • Facilitate a family outing per community-based cohort.
  • Attend monthly team and agency meetings as well as regular supervision.
  • Conduct and manage participant paperwork.
  • Facilitate weekly programming.
  • Provide crisis-counseling services for participants as necessary and appropriate.
  • Provide liaison and referral services with appropriate mental health centers DCS courts and school systems as needed.
  • Address and resolve any issues that arise with the help of the Sr. Director.
  • Provide transportation for youth.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned.

Planning Marketing and Community Relations

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for building creative collaborations with a wide variety of stakeholders who are passionate about Youth Violence Prevention the life-changing diversion from the Juvenile Justice System for BIPOC male youth.
  • Maintain frequent communication with key donors
  • Maintain and provide accurate program data for grant reporting.
  • Participate in strategic planning for REAL and the organization.
  • Assure a visible presence of REAL in the community through media networking and collaboration.
  • Assist in the coordination of marketing efforts to reach donors and serve target populations.
  • Establish and maintain contact with key stakeholders in business employee resource groups universities and organizations.

Requirements

Minimal Requirements / Performance Standards:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
  • Knowledge and ability to access community resources.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply group work principles.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply science-based prevention principals.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply cultural diversity sensitivity to curriculum development and service delivery.
  • Knowledge and ability to design and deliver training to teens and adults.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer and other office equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply principles of community building and advocacy.
  • Two years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms.
  • Skilled with court involved youth through an ability to form trusting developmental relationships and create inclusive interactive spaces that promote positive male identities.
  • Comfortable speaking to and having an open dialogue surrounding structural oppression racism violence poverty and social inequities pertaining to BIPOC males.
  • Ability to form strong caring and affirming relationships with all youth including LGBTQ youth.
  • Clear understanding of racial inequities and other forms of discrimination and willingness to operate from an anti-oppression model.
