Job Title: Design and Production Manager - Studio 605
Location:The Design and Production Center is located at Needham High School.
Reports to: Director of Fine and Performing Arts
Salary: $36.00 per hour with an annual cap of $10050 (approximately 279 hours per year). This is a stipended position that is paid on an hourly basis for the amount of work completed.
Position Summary
The Design and Production Manager for Studio 605 is a part-time year-round position responsible for the daily operation and management of the schools in-house design and production services. This role serves as a professional design consultant production coordinator and student mentor. The manager will be responsible for providing high-quality design and layout services while also training and supervising student designers ensuring timely completion of all projects for the school community. The Production Manager should be available to work summer days (ideally within the period of 10 days before the first day of school for students and for 3 days after the last school day of the year) to address the needs within the District.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Production:
- Fulfill professional design and layout requests for various school departments and staff.
- Utilize professional design software and equipment to create high-quality materials for print and digital use.
- Manage the production schedule ensuring all projects are completed accurately and on time.
- Student Supervision and Mentorship:
- Oversee and train student designers in design principles software and production workflows.
- Serve as a professional mentor guiding students in their creative and technical development.
- Supervise student work providing feedback and ensuring a high standard of quality.
- Operational Management:
- Manage the Studio 605 budget and project hours ensuring adherence to the annual cap.
- Maintain the current price list for all design and production services (price lists are approved by The School Committee for each year)
- Collaborate with the Director of Fine and Performing Arts to establish and refine Studio 605 policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Director of Fine and Performing Arts and Needham High School Visual Art staff to maintain existing equipment facilitate repairs and make recommendations regarding new technology to be included in the Center.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven professional experience in graphic design and production management. Experience working with students or in an educational environment is highly preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in professional design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite). Strong organizational communication and project management skills.
- Attributes: A passion for mentorship and a collaborative spirit. The ability to work independently manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
