  • Job Title: .5 IB Middle Years Programme Facilitator / Flex Hours equal to 20 weekly
    Supervisor: Principal
    Terms of Employment: Three-year position; contingent each year on grant funding
    Job Summary:
    The Middle Years Programme (MYP) facilitator is responsible for the effective implementation development and ongoing management of the IB MYP framework within the school. Working closely with teachers school leadership students and parents the MYP facilitator ensures the programme aligns with IB standards and practices while supporting the academic and personal growth of middle school students according to South Carolina Standards of Learning. This role includes providing professional development overseeing curriculum planning and assessment ensuring adherence to IB regulations and serving as the primary liaison with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
    Essential Duties
    1. Ensure that the MYP curriculum is planned taught and assessed in alignment with IB principles including interdisciplinary connections and global contexts.
    2. Lead the development and implementation of the MYP in accordance with IB standards and practices guiding the school through application authorization and evaluation processes.
    3. Organize and deliver training sessions and workshops for faculty to build capacity in MYP pedagogy assessment and subject-specific strategies.
    4. Work collaboratively with teachers across all subject groups to support unit planning assessment design and integration of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.
    5. Monitor and support the use of MYP assessment criteria and practices; oversee consistent criteria-based reporting of student achievement and progress.
    6. Serve as the main point of contact between the school and the IB; disseminate relevant updates policies and information to the school community.
    7. Promote student understanding of the MYP framework including the Learner Profile and MYP Personal Project.
    8. Oversee the planning execution and assessment of the MYP Personal Project ensuring students and supervisors are well-supported throughout the process.
    9. Maintain accurate records of curriculum documentation teacher training meeting minutes assessment data and IB correspondence.
    10. Contribute to the schools strategic goals by aligning the MYP with whole-school initiatives including curriculum review and continuous improvement efforts.
    11. Foster a culture of international-mindedness and inquiry by embedding the IB Learner Profile and mission throughout school life and culture.
    Other Duties

    Job Specifications
    Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on the evaluation of Professional Personnel.
    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required)
    1. Bachelors degree in education or related fields from an accredited institution of higher learning.
    2. Valid SC Teaching License.
    3. Experience in curriculum planning unit design or coordinating teachers.
    4. At least Category 1 MYP training (or willingness to obtain it shortly after appointment).
    5. Strong knowledge of IB philosophy and framework especially MYPs concept-based inquiry-driven learning.
    6. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
    7. Ability to lead interdisciplinary planning and collaborative reflection.
    8. Experience with MYP curriculum documentation (e.g. unit planners ATL skills global contexts).
    9. Familiarity with and managing MYP eAssessment.
    10. Ability to mentor and support teachers in implementing the MYP framework.
