Job Summary

Description

The Packaging Associate is responsible for operating and maintaining packaging equipment to ensure efficient and accurate processing of preprints and inserts. This role requires long periods of repetitive work attention to detail and the ability to perform tasks safely and consistently to meet production goals.

Responsibilities and Duties

Operate insert machine and ancillary equipment safely and properly.

Read and follow job tickets for each assignment.

Accurately identify and insert preprints according to specifications.

Notify supervisor immediately of any issues with machines or preprints.

Properly jog inserts to support efficient machine operation.

Assist in inserter set-up and adjustments.

Always maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Perform routine cleaning of machines equipment and surrounding areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Assist with dock duties including handling incoming and outgoing shipments stacking pallets and organizing materials.

Perform basic building maintenance tasks assigned (such as light repairs general upkeep and assisting with facility needs).

Support general housekeeping of production dock and facility areas as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Reliable punctual and consistent work performance.

Ability to jog or willingness to learn how to jog inserts.

Ability to safely lift and move materials as required for dock duties.

Forklift operation experience preferred (certification a plus).

Basic building maintenance or handyman skills helpful.

Works effectively in a team environment.

Hearst Michigan Newspapers prints 4 Dailies and Weeklies owned by Hearst plus a variety of Commercial Printing. We are seeking an individual with high standards in quality maintenance and crew leadership.

  • Mechanical abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 20LBS
