Job Description

Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario is opening a multi-service hub for youth aged 12-25 in Windsor-Essex. These sites will provide rapid access to services that address the needs of youth related to mental health substance use primary care employment/training housing and other community and social services. This initiative led jointly by CMHA-WECB HDGH Maryvale The Bridge WECHC United Way includes over 20 partner organizations.


The Clerical coverage employee will be responsible for welcoming and supporting youth through the incumbents disclosure of their lived experience in one-on-one and group settings. They will create a welcoming culture perform reception duties provide administrative support to management and staff and maintain My Wellness Passport data base clinical records and generate reports. The incumbent will be part of an interdisciplinary team as a non-clinical member of the team they will not offer any therapeutic intervention but will support youth with accessing resources and support that can help them to achieve their full potential. The incumbent uses empowerment and recovery-oriented approaches in individual and group settings. The incumbent may be required to intervene in crisis situations. The Youth Wellness Hub is open youth-friendly hours and therefore the incumbent will regularly work evenings and some Saturdays.

Clerical Coverage staff will support and assist in creating a safe and accepting environment for youth with a special emphasis on the 2SLGBTQ Indigenous youth and other marginalized community youth. Casual Clerical Coverage staff will provide coverage for shifts as operationally required.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Utilizes and shares their lived experience as a youth with mental health and/or addiction challenges after having gone through a process of recovery to inspire clients between the ages of 12 and 25 years old while maintaining clear professional boundaries
  • Initiates interacts and participates in social activities with clients in groups and one-on-one settings: social experiences skill building opportunities
  • Shares information and aids clients to link them with community resources of their choosing
  • Assist with social media accounts for the program (i.e. Facebook Twitter etc.)
  • Answers phone enquiries takes messages refers caller to appropriate personnel and provides information as requested
  • As the first point of contact will welcome visitors/youth at reception in a professional manner and contributes to creating and maintaining a safe welcoming non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing hub atmosphere
  • File information and maintain electronic client files.
  • Set up phone messages for reception
  • Consult with the YWH Operations Manager regarding client complaints serious occurrences high risk situations computer problems and conflicts that remain unresolved at other levels
  • Will provide services at various locations within Windsor and Essex County (i.e. Leamington) as required
  • Perform other duties as required by the organization or Operations Manager such as participating in community or YWH events

EDUCATION & SKILLS:

  • Completion of at least a minimum of two (2) year post-secondary program is required in a field deemed relevant to the employer (Human Services Diploma Social Sciences).
  • Given the nature of this position it is a requirement that the individual have personal lived experience as a youth with mental illness and/or addictions and is willing to self-disclose.
  • Experience with group presentation and development is considered an asset. Administrative experience and human resources or related field is an asset. Proficiency in both English and French languages is considered an asset.
  • Experience working or volunteering within addiction or mental health organizations is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mental health; mental illness and recovery; information and referral services; and crisis intervention
  • Proficiency in computer programs include Microsoft Office Suites: PowerPoint Word Excel Outlook Google Drive
  • Have comprehensive computer expertise to prepare presentations populate spreadsheets and data bases and prepare written reports
  • Strong time management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence with access to a reliable vehicle and proof of current insurance and licensing are required for this position.
  • Bilingualism in both official languages at the advanced level is an asset for all agency positions.

Hours of Work: The work schedule will be determined based upon program needs. Casual employees are called in as operationally required. Flexibility will be required as shifts may become available on short notice in circumstances of sick coverage.

The regular hours of operation at the Youth Wellness Hub are between 11:00 AM 7:00 PM Monday to Friday.

Salary range: Grade 5 $25.57 $31.11 per hour

Per 2022 - 2026 Collective Agreement


Applicable shift premiums are paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement Article 17.11.
