We are seeking an inspirational highly strategic and experienced Head of Science to lead a large and thriving department at a successful secondary school in the vibrant Hammersmith area of West London. Key Responsibilities & Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher and leader with a degree in a Science discipline (Biology Chemistry or Physics) holding QTS and possessing a proven track record of raising standards across a large faculty.
As Head of Science you will be expected to:
- Strategic Vision: Develop and implement an ambitious vision for the Science department overseeing curriculum design and delivery from KS3 through to A-Level across all three disciplines.
- Team Leadership: Effectively lead mentor and performance-manage a large team of specialist teachers and technicians fostering a culture of excellence and shared practice.
- Attainment & Accountability: Use data effectively to drive intervention monitor student progress and ensure outstanding outcomes in all Science GCSE and A-Level examinations.
- Resource & Safety: Manage the substantial departmental budget efficiently ensuring laboratories are fully resourced well-maintained and strictly comply with CLEAPSS and all Health & Safety protocols.
- Whole-School Contribution: Serve as a key link to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) contributing to broader school strategy and promoting STEM engagement across the community.
