The Vitals: What Youll Be Doing

This full-time role is structured to provide you with the essential foundation for your teaching career focusing on developing effective classroom practice and subject mastery across the sciences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Delivery: Teach Science effectively across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and your specialism (Biology Chemistry or Physics) up to GCSE (KS4) building foundational knowledge and scientific curiosity.
  • ECT Induction: Fully participate in the schools bespoke ECT Induction Programme attending regular professional development sessions and engaging in constructive self-reflection and observation.
  • Practical Skills: Confidently plan and lead practical experiments ensuring a high standard of health and safety and promoting inquiry-based learning.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with your assigned mentor and the wider Science team to share ideas refine your pedagogy and benefit from the departments collective expertise.

Candidate Profile: What Were Looking For

This role is specifically for a newly or recently qualified teacher with a passion for science and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: A degree in a Science discipline (Biology Chemistry or Physics).
  • Certification: Hold or be expecting to successfully complete Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) upon taking up the post.
  • Status: Must be eligible to begin or continue the Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction period.
  • Skills: High potential as a classroom practitioner excellent communication skills strong organizational abilities and an eagerness to learn and contribute to school life.
