Respiratory Therapist 90 or 60 (Downtown Campus)

• Selected candidates with 2 years of experience may be eligible for a $10000 sign-on incentive if all qualifications are met including a minimum two-year commitment. ($5000 sign-on for candidates with less than 2 years of experience).Current UI employees are not eligible.

Responsible for respiratory therapy duties including oxygen and aerosol therapy administration of specialty gases application of ventilators arterial puncture blood gas analysis implement patient driven protocols and other duties as assigned.*Respiratory Therapists mustbe a graduate of a Commission of Accreditation Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved program.

Perform exercise testing involving monitoring of patient functions and assessment of patient effort in the Pulmonary Rehab dept.
Perform pulmonary function testing including the operation of equipment compiling of tests results for physician review and assessment of patient effort based upon results.
Consult with and assist physicians and nurses with respiratory care plan for patients and facilitate the implementation of the physicians orders.

Hours: Variable days mid shift 6am-6pm or 10am-10pm

Qualifications:

• Graduate of a two or four year AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program or completion of the requirements to become registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Possess a current CPR certification card.
• Obtain registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care within six (6) months of date of hire.

Desired Qualifications:

• Greater than one year of recent ICU level experience.
• Experience with an electronic medical record documentation system.
• Currently registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
