JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will join TWUs vibrant music faculty inpreparing music students for their 21st-century careers.The Division of Music has an enrollment of approximately 275 music majors. Bachelors degrees are offered in music education music therapy musical theatre performance and liberal arts. Additionally masters degrees are offered in music education music therapy performance and instrumental piano or vocal pedagogy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

  1. Teach undergraduate courses in music theory aural skills and analytical techniques.
  2. Teach graduate courses in music theory pedagogy.
  3. Teach other courses in secondary area(s) of expertise such as music technology composition arranging or musicology.
  4. Serve on division college and university committees.
  5. Actively participate in music division recruiting.
  6. Maintain an active agenda of research and creative activity thatenhances the program. standing and visibility of the division and the music theory area.
  7. Serve on graduate student committees.
  8. Actively participate in professional music organizations on the state and national levels.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Hold an earned doctorate in Music Theory or Composition
  2. Evidence of successful teaching at the college/university level
  3. Strong record of scholarly activity and potential for continued research productivity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience with innovative and engaging teaching strategies that focus on the needs of 21st-century students
  2. Experience teaching in different modalities (i.e. face-to-face hybrid online synchronous asynchronous etc.)
  3. Experience with recruitment and retention of varied student populations
