About the Role
The Snr. AOD Clinician works with a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to provide timely intervention to consumers who present to the SVHM ED. Interventions will include (but are not limited to) mental health assessment drug and alcohol assessment psychosocial assessment review of current treatment and investigations as determined by assessment planning of care after discharge from ED and assertive community follow up if required.
The Team will work closely with the consultants to guide and lead the MDT in making high level clinical decisions that lead to quality outcomes for consumers.
The Team will report directly to the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) ED for day to day operational needs and work closely with the senior leadership team in ED to maintain consistency in the response to MH&AOD presentations to the ED.
Classifications for this position will be ZF4 ($107962.00 per annum pro rata)

About the AOD department
As part of providing a more integrated response to people who present to the emergency department with co-occurring MH & Substance use issues we have developed a model of care that brings together the Addiction medicine Mental Health and Emergency dept. teams into a collaborative model of service delivery. This new multidisciplinary team the MH & AOD and Emergency Dept.(Hub) team will brings together the clinical expertise of mental health and drug and alcohol to provide specialised care to patients presenting to the ED with high acuity mental health and AOD issues and complex psychosocial needs. The Snr. AOD Clinician will also support the clinical integration and communication of existing teams; the ED care coordination team (ALERT) Rapid Assessment team (RAT) mental health ED team and the AOD in-reach services.
The Hub team is dedicated to and based within the Emergency Department with the clinicians within the Hub team reporting to the Hub Coordinator position. The Hub Coordinator will report operationally to the Nurse Unit Manager of the Emergency Department and clinical decision making of the Hub team will be undertaken in collaboration with the ED senior clinical leaders and DoAM & MH components of the Hub service. The AOD clinical roles within the Hub team will be supported by and have clinical governance provided by DoAM. The team will provide a seven day/week extended hours service.
