Installation & Collections Preparator Full Time Temporary Assignment (15 Months) with Benefits Hourly Starting Range: $22.48-$25.13 (commensurate with experience) Kansas City MO The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art seeks two (2) skilled and collaborative full timeInstallation & Collections Preparatorto join our team on a temporary assignment of 15 months or more. This role is critical as we prepare for and support upcoming building and renovation projects. For the right candidate(s) there is an opportunity to transition into a long-term regular staff Preparator position as part of our multi-year expansion project. Key ResponsibilitiesSafely move and handle works of art across all mediums within the museum. Collaborate with preparators registrars and conservators to de-install and install works from permanent galleries in advance of construction. Construct and outfit housings for art transport and storage. Support departmental needs as assigned contributing to the overall care of the collection and smooth execution of projects.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. 23 years of museum or gallery experience (installation preferred). Carpentry experience with proficiency in hand and power tools. Familiarity with pallet jacks and art-handling equipment. Valid drivers license required. Strong teamwork organizational and communication skills. Ability to lift/move 50100 lbs and work at heights up to 40 feet.
