Job Description
To manage patients with altered skin integrity due to acute or chronic wounds. To demonstrate knowledge and expertise in pre and postoperative care and education of ileostomy colostomy or urostomy patients and function as a consultant regarding care. To work in conjunction with physicians nursing staff and ancillary staff to evaluate propose plan and perform patient assessments and treatment.
Graduate of a school of Nursing program approved and accredited by the Alabama State Board of Nursing required. Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Wound Care Certified (WCC) designation by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy preferred. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
