Job Description

Carlow University is now accepting applications for our part-time Holistic Advisor role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent the mission and values of Carlow University and the College of Health and Wellness.
Serve as an advocate mentor and role model for students.
Maintain visibility among the student body through orientations and campus events.
Orient and educate students to academic expectations policies and student success resources.
Promote student empowerment skills through motivational discussions and selfesteem building activities
Identify and assess the social determinants of education barriers that impact students provide early interventions and implement retention strategies to promote student success. Track assessment using a campus-wide student retention software system.
Ongoing assessment and evaluation of data trends of student outcomes to inform future practice and process improvement.
Incorporate individual student action plans for success with specific strategies and measurable outcomes. Track progress using a campus-wide student retention software system.
Closely monitor student academic progress related to coursework attendance and progression in the program. Track student contacts and progress using a campus-wide student retention software system.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Foster student success through consistent follow-up early intervention and referral to appropriate University support services and community agencies.
Conduct regular check-ins with students to ensure they are effectively using available academic clinical and wellness resources
Maintain collaboration and communication with course faculty and academic advisors in the College of Health and Wellness and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Pursue continuous quality improvement by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to develop and maintain role competence.
Skill Development: Educating students on time management coping with stress and other vital professional skills.
Student-centered approach: Demonstrates empathy active listening to build a trusting relationship with students to address struggles happening outside of academics that could impact their success
Adaptability: Responds proactively to evolving student needs and program requirements.
EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters in Nursing (MSN). Masters in Higher Education/Student Affairs (. M.A. or Ed.M.) Masters in Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A. or M.S.) or Masters in Social Work (MSW) Clearances - Upon hire and updated every three years to include ACT 33 34 73/114 Clearances (FBI Fingerprints Child Abuse and PA State Police).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated proficiency in academic advising.
Previous experience with EAB Navigate
Prior teaching experience in an academic setting.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills relevant to meeting the academic and nonacademic needs of students.
Proficiency in using Microsoft programs and databases
