Job Summary and Responsibilities
Assists with the efficient operation of the department. Responsibilities includes receiving incoming calls and
visitors facilitating communication among staff and maintaining department records.
Essential Functions
-Assists in the admission transfer and discharge process.
-Performs unit housekeeping needs.
-Acts as a runner/transporter.
-Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated reporting variances to appropriate personnel.
-Updates assigned bed status.
-Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms call lights telephones and alerting the correct
person.
-Keeps patient environment clean Performs comfort rounds keeps hallways clear of obstruction no food or drink
at the workstation reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately and adheres to patient safety
precautions.
-Communicates with patients family physicians and unit personnel and peers in an accurate courteous and
professional manner.
-Acts as receptionist for unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy
dependent on the need of unit. This can include but not limited to: consulting in Cerner navigate through
-Cerner discharge patients put milestones into tele tracking maintain paper charts and checking on MD orders.
-Order floor stock and puts it away.
