Job Title: Architect Residential Construction
Department: D08 - Design
Status: Exempt
Position Summary: An Architect Residential Construction serves as the architect of record responsible for planning designing and facilitating the execution of residential and high-density building projects from concept to completion. This role ensures that all designs align with company specifications meet applicable building codes and comply with regulatory requirements. The Architect oversees the preparation and approval of construction documents coordinates with internal and external stakeholders and manages the design staff to deliver innovative functional and cost-effective residential solutions. By balancing creativity with technical precision this person plays a key role in shaping high-quality residential communities that reflect SC Swiderskis standards and vision.
Job Duties:
Design Leadership ( 40%)
- Perform duties of architect of record ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Direct and monitor the preparation of plans drawings documents and reports that the Architect personally stamps in accordance with Wisconsin Administrative Code A-E 8.10
- Enter drawing and document files into State (eSLA) system or oversee the entering of files by others
- Address DSPS Plan Reviewer feedback during plan approval process and ensure corrective action when needed
- Submit required documents into state systems including engineered plans roof & floor truss component submittals and building compliance statements
- Perform code reviews of all projects requiring state submittals and review plans for adherence to company standards
- Maintain licensure status attend continuing education and complete code refresher courses as needed
- Participate in on-site inspections including in the design compliance inspection process
- Assist with education code compliance information and support for design staff
- Work closely with outside architects engineers and SCS staff including Development Design and Construction and
- Hire manage train and mentor design staff providing timelines and oversight.
Planning & Strategy ( 35%)
- Partner with internal teams including Construction Development and Project Management to align design strategies with project goals
- Contribute and collaborate with the Development Team providing input on RFPs and potential projects
- Collaborate with consultants engineers and external partners to integrate structural mechanical and civil design considerations
- Collaborate on design concepts for new and existing building designs
- Create conceptual and schematic building designs based on Owner or Company direction
- Support the development of standard operating procedures and design guidelines and
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives and contribute architectural expertise to organizational growth plans.
Architecture & Compliance( 25%)
- Prepare reports updates and presentations regarding design progress and compliance
- Ensure timely responses to permitting regulatory and approval processes
- Participate in on-site inspections including midpoint and final building inspections
- Maintain awareness of industry trends building codes and best practices to inform design improvements and
- Assist in budgeting scheduling and resource allocation for design projects.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Current Architect license in Wisconsin (or ability to obtain license)
- Bachelors or masters degree in architecture from an accredited program
- 5 years proven work experience as an Architect and
- 7 years of residential design experience including multifamily and single-family projects 10 years preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of local state and federal construction regulations
- Excellent understanding of plans and specifications
- Strong knowledge of building codes and permitting processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit and Microsoft applications including MS Teams
- Excellent problem-solving organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills with ability to lead teams effectively and
- Experience in multi-family design a plus.
Work Schedule:
The work schedule for the Architect Residential Construction requires the ability to work 45 55 hours per week during normal business hours of Monday Friday with occasional hours outside out of that range as business necessitates. Site visits and occasional travel are required with this position. The Incumbent must have good organizational skills be self-motivated possess good time management skills and can communicate with people on all levels.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and stand for 8-10 hours daily
- Ability to move safely on construction sites undeveloped land and uneven terrain
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time and
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions if needed.
Work Environment:
Most of the time spent in this position takes place in a professional office setting working with project teams and all levels of Company personnel. Occasional in-state travel (and out of state as expansion occurs) to active jobsites is required with this position. This role may be exposed to dust and noise associated with saws and power tools on occasion.
