PWNT part of Nijhuis Saur Industries (NSI) offers an exciting internship position within the Research & Development team. During this internship you will contribute to optimizing the regeneration process of the innovative Suspended Ion eXchange (SIX) technology.
With pioneering technologies such as ion exchange ceramic membranes and advanced oxidation we develop sustainable water treatment solutions that are applied worldwide.
About the Internship
The SIX process is a sustainable alternative to coagulation for the removal of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in drinking water production. It works by keeping ion exchange resin in suspension and regenerating it with a sodium chloride solution.
During your internship you will focus on optimizing the regeneration process a crucial step for the performance of the technology. You will investigate various parameters such as regenerant flow rates and concentrations and carry out laboratory experiments (jar tests and column tests). The results will directly contribute to improving the technology at water treatment plants worldwide.
Your Tasks
Conduct a literature review to support your experiments.
Plan and organize laboratory activities in collaboration with your supervisor and operators.
Perform jar tests and column tests for adsorption and desorption.
Potentially support pilot-scale research.
Report and present results analyses and conclusions.
Who are you
Enrolled in a Dutch BSc or MSc Chemical engineering Chemistry or Cevil Engineering.
Available for an internship for a minimal period of 3 months.
Pro-active and able to work autonomously
Good communication skills able to express his/her own opinion and not afraid to ask for help.
Professional command of the English language in words and writing.
Working for us means
A valuable and challenging internship at an international organization
Internship allowance
Housing during the internship period
Reimbursement of work-related travel expenses
The opportunity to directly contribute to the sustainability of global water treatment
