Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The main purpose of this position is to maintain the product design through its life cycle by creating design solutions to meet customers requirements through new designs or redesigning existing Teledyne DGO products; ensuring successful and timely delivery of fully buildable packages to Manufacturing.
Generally responsible for technical oversight of at least one key product line or design element (i.e. glass sealing feed-thru system nuclear etc.)
Primary responsibilities include developing solutions in accordance with standard Teledyne DGO guidelines and practices; creating or modifying designs in CAD using best engineering practices. The Project Engineer I will also create or modify procedures and test standards to facilitate manufacturing and interface with the customer and suppliers to ensure technical requirements and expectations are met.
Responsibilities include ensuring appropriate Qualification exists for all products providing technical support to manufacturing and assisting with technical review of Quotes and Orders.
Participate in Failure Analysis activities and provide technical input to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) evaluation.
Actively seek to gain detailed knowledge for all Teledyne DGO products and technologies.
Ensure all product solutions reflect Teledyne DGO design and qualification standards.
Proactively participate in a Project Engineering Team environment follow the direction and leadership of senior staff.
Education and Experience:
BS degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
0-3 years experience in a related industry ideally working with a supplier for subsea defense products.
A strong Engineering aptitude with hands-on capabilities
Job Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of general safety practices in high pressure thermal and electrical operational and test environments
Familiarity with basic temperature pressure insulation resistance continuity resistance optical insertion loss optical back reflection mechanical stress/strain vibration & shock requirements and measurement techniques
Preferred to have understanding of Fiber Optic and Electrical (power and communications) interconnectivity
Preferred to have knowledge of US government military specs for suppliers
Preferred to have knowledge of ISO 9001
Proficiency with SolidWorks AutoCAD or similar CAD program
MS Office Suite proficiency (MS Word Excel PowerPoint Project)
Preferred experience with manufacturing quality and reliability tools (i.e. Six Sigma FMEA)
Strong written and oral communication techniques

Provide technical guidance to Drafting personnel
Provide technical guidance as required to Manufacturing personnel

ERP system (IFS) Overview
Teledyne Ethics and Harassment training
Compliance with all mandatory Teledyne DGO training standards and initiatives
DGO/Marine Industry and/or customer-specific Product Test/Qualification Standards

Work Environment:
Quiet office environment
Occasional work in Manufacturing and Test areas
Occasional travel including overseas
Personal Protective Equipment:
Use of safety glasses when in Manufacturing and Test areas
Use of slip resistant shoes when in Manufacturing and Test areas
Use of steel protective shoes or protective shoe covers when in the Manufacturing Pressure Tank area
