Overview
Great Basin Staffing is hiring a Protection & Control (P&C) Relay Technician for a 3-day substation shutdown supporting commissioning and scheme verification on PacifiCorp (Pacific Power) facilities. Must be PacifiCorp-approved (prior acceptance to work under PacifiCorp procedures) and fluent with Omicron/Doble test plans SEL/GE settings and outage-window documentation.

What you ll do

Execute end-to-end protection tests (BF/OC/differential/reclosing/sync-check) with GPS/PTP time sync.
Perform breaker trip/close verification timing and DLRO references CT/PT ratio & polarity checks.
Upload/verify settings (SEL AcSELerator GE Enervista); export event/oscillography and settings diffs.
Complete SCADA/point-to-point (DNP3/IEC-61850/GOOSE) with as-left documentation aligned to PacifiCorp procedures.
Redline one-lines/schematics; deliver a single PDF report package.

Must-have requirements

PacifiCorp-approved (prior acceptance on PacifiCorp projects) OR documented history meeting PacifiCorp relay commissioning procedures.
3 5 years substation P&C/relay commissioning.
Proficiency with Omicron CMC/Doble F6150 Test Universe/AVTS.
SEL/GE/ABB settings familiarity; COMTRADE/event analysis.
NFPA-70E/OSHA-10 switching & tagging/LOTO discipline; clean safety record.
Travel-ready for 3-day outage (nights/weekend possible).

Nice to have

IEC-61850/GOOSE IRIG-B/PTP time sync GIS/SF6 experience NETA II/III.

Compensation & logistics

$65 $75/hr DOE W-2 $250/day Per Diem; OT as required by schedule.
Tools/software provided on site or reimbursed per project plan.
