Plant 52 Saw Operator - Shift 5Position Overview
Position Overview:
This position will be responsible for the operation of a variety of different saws and other machinery in the production of cutting Hard Surface Panels and Mezz chips in accordance with production and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Able to operate all the following machines: Miter Saw Tiger Saw Rip Saw Drill Press and Planer
Able to comprehend and interpret customer instructions.
Able to determine how to cut product to get the most yield while following how the customer wants their Hard Surface Panels.
Set up saw gears/enter correct programs in saws to make saws cut the correct size plank needed.
Use computer to enter cuts made in ASAP and Production screen.
Update work order statuses after cutting and place material in proper floor locations
Comprehend and interpret customer instructions.
Other Duties:
Maintain a clean trip hazard-free work area at all times
Clean saws and empty vacuums at the end of the shift
Perform any duties necessary to aid in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
Check tape measure before each shift for defects or damage - Associates are instructed to have tape measure replaced anytime they become worn or damaged Maintain production needs
Position Requirements:
Must be able to change the saw blade.
Push pallets from the staging area to saw.
Must be detail oriented.
Must be able to work independently without close supervision.
Must have good interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Requirements:
Previous experience operating the following: Miter Saw Tiger Saw Rip (table) Saw Drill Press and Planer.
Experience with computers and measuring devices.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to stand up to 2 hours between breaks.
Able to travel between plants throughout the shift.
Reaching constantly to align wood and adjust the blade
Continual use of arms and legs throughout the shift
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment
Must be able to withstand changes in temperature and humidity
Must be able to work in a noisy environment
Carry wood planks from buggy or pallet to saw table (average of 15-20 lbs. per plank)
Must be able to push full pallets of un-cut Hard surface material 90 lbs. of pressure
Must be able to lift boxes of products weighing up to 50 lbs.
Shift 5: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm-12:00am
