About the Role
Applied Materials is hiring a Automation Industrial Engineerto support robotics and automation initiatives within our global warehouse operations. This newly created role will be based in Singapore and will contribute directly to the design build and testing of collaborative robotic (Cobot) systems aimed at automating the construction of custom packing boxes for hundreds of daily shipments.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dedicated Cobot Lab collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver scalable automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency and throughput.
Key Responsibilities
Cobot Lab Execution:
Assist in designing configuring and testing Cobot solutions for packaging automation.
Customize robotic arm setups and end-of-arm tools for real-world use cases.
Ensure system reliability safety and performance in high-volume environments.
Warehouse Automation Projects:
Support the development of automation solutions for broader warehouse operations including material handling sorting and inventory workflows.
Participate in feasibility studies prototyping and validation testing.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering operations and IT teams to integrate automation systems.
Engage with external collaborators and vendors to support solution development and deployment.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Industriual Engineering Robotics Automation Engineering or a related field.
Experience & Skills:
Hands-on experience with robotic arms and end-of-arm tooling.
Exposure to robotics system integration and testing in operational environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and collaborative settings.
Preferred Attributes
Familiarity with collaborative robots (Cobots) in logistics or manufacturing environments.
Experience in automation for large-scale warehouse operations.
Knowledge of robotics programming and simulation tools.
