This is a grant-funded position.

Position Overview:

The Client Service Specialist (CSS) will support clinical and non-clinical services by coordinating all aspects of the medical clinic through front desk support. The position can support front desk operations at all Clinical Health Services (CHS) locations if needed. CSS answers phones schedule appointment support clinic flow and provide day to day service to the public coming for services. The CSS will ensure compliance with all Harris County Public Health policies and procedures by supporting the clinic operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interviews client to collect required information for eligibility determination using grant and payor guidelines.
  • Manage administrative duties such as reception appointments and telephone calls.
  • Support the coordination of scheduling patients to receive services from Multidisciplinary team members.
  • Handle minor cash handling responsibilities including collecting co-pays.
  • Ensure medical record policies and procedures are followed including those dealing with patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
  • Complete service activity reports client revenue reports client satisfaction surveys and other periodic reports as required.
  • Participates in the transportation of program supplies to and from event locations and adhering to county vehicle operation policies when applies.
  • Maintains inventory by ensuring office supplies are always in-stock and order as needed.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of experience performing clerical office duties in a health care setting (hospital physician or dental office).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to engage and explain services to potential clients.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a Full-Time Grant-Funded position.
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Other days and hours as required per the clinics and programs needs.

Work Environment:

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires the ability to lift carry push pull up to twenty (20) pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
