Job Description

The Fee- for-Service counselor provides direct clinical services to individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders in accordance with OASAS regulations and agency policies. Services may include intake assessments individual and group counseling treatment planning and documentation required for billing and compliance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: List all essential job duties. (To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.   • Conduct intake screening and biopsychosocial assessment as assigned.
  • Facilitate individual group and family counseling sessions as appropriate to scope of practice.
  • Develop update and review individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Provide crisis intervention relapse prevention and recovery support strategies.
  • Document all services in the electronic health record (EHR) within 48hours of service with OASAS/Medicaid billing requirement.
  • Participate in case reviews supervision and team meetings
  • Maintain required certifications licenses and continuing education
  • Collaborate with peers medical staff and external providers to support integrated care.

  • Position requires flexibility with hours may require after-hour calls.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with auditors regulatory bodies clients staff colleagues public other agencies and their staff and third-party insurance personnel.

Job Knowledge

  • Must have an excellent understanding of state and city OASAS/DOH/ OMH) regulations. Superior written and verbal communication skills are a must. Successful track record of leading diverse interdisciplinary staff is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • CASAC CASAC-T LMSW LMHC LCSW limited permit are acceptable.
  • Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders preferred.
  • Knowledge OASAS part 822 regulations and Medicaid FSS billing strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical documentation and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
