We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to support our operating room team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse the Surgical Tech plays a key role in assisting during surgical procedures ensuring a sterile environment anticipating surgeon needs and maintaining a high standard of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:Scrub in and assist on a wide range of advanced and complex surgical procedures.
Anticipate surgeons needs for instruments supplies and equipment based on procedure and preferences.
Set up sterile tables with instruments supplies medications and equipment necessary for surgery.
Disassemble clean and reassemble instruments and prepare them for sterilization.
Monitor instrument sterility and assist in maintaining surgical field integrity.
Manage supply inventory and notify nursing staff of specific equipment or material needs.
Contribute to departmental education efforts by assisting with in-service training and development of learning aids.
Provide input into improving departmental policies procedures and patient care standards.
Participate in committees or special projects as assigned.
Education and Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technologist training program preferred.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred at hire; required within 6 months if not certified. Candidates with 5 years of verifiable on-the-job surgical tech experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (or obtained within 3 months of hire).
Experience:
Previous experience working in a hospital operating room setting required.
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments anatomy physiology wound care and sterile processing.
Understanding of surgical procedures and patient safety protocols.
Proficient in sterile technique surgical prep and patient positioning.
Ability to adapt quickly to changes in the operating room and respond calmly under pressure.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to high standards of care cleanliness and infection control.
Certifications Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
Surgical Technician Certification National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
