Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Location: Paramus NJ 07652
Duration: 3 month contract (extendable)
Shift: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM five 8-hour shifts per week
Pay Rate: $28 local $31 travel

Position Summary

A phlebotomist is needed to perform blood collection and specimen handling for patients ranging from newborns to geriatrics. The role requires proper aseptic techniques accurate documentation and the ability to travel to off-site locations including health fairs and home visits. The phlebotomist will support the laboratory by ensuring safe efficient and timely specimen collection and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Collect intravenous and capillary blood specimens from patients of all ages using proper aseptic techniques
Draw blood into appropriate tubes and culture vials based on test requirements
Perform routine blood collection procedures and maintain cleanliness of the work area
Ensure proper inventory of supplies and notify supervisors if levels are low
Monitor and log refrigerator temperatures daily reporting abnormalities as needed
Maintain detailed logs of all patient activity and submit daily to the Outreach Section Head
Obtain required patient information for accurate testing and billing
Travel to corporate and municipal health fairs or house calls for specimen collection; deliver specimens to the laboratory as required
Lift a minimum of 10 lbs. push/pull up to 150 lbs. and remain standing for at least 6 hours per day

Required Experience and Certifications

Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience
Active phlebotomist license
BLS certification (AHA)
