Job Summary

Location:Lincoln St. K-2 Elementary SchoolGeneral Description:The Franklin Public Schools a Prek-12 district is seeking a skilled and experienced special education assistant to work in the STRIVE Program at Lincoln St K-2 Elementary School. The STRIVE Program is a specialized program with a low student to teacher ratio for students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who require intensive programming and support. The program addresses the unique needs of each student ensuring that instruction is developmentally appropriate. Students are provided with ongoing opportunities for inclusion on an individual basis with the support of program staff. Within this developmental model the instructional strategies of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) are utilized throughout the school day. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide positive behavior supports and academic interventions for students
Ensure safety of students during in and out of the classroom
Work with lead teacher to provide academic social and emotional support and intervention
Work collaboratively with the team of special education teachers and therapists to carry over skills
Provide support with Activities of Daily Living i.e. toileting standing self-care etc
Collect data

Qualifications:

Associate degree or higher or ParaPro Certification
Knowledge and training in ABA
Experience working with students with developmental disabilities
Able to take initiative and work independently
Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
