Job Description:
About the Role:
TreeHouse Foods is seeking a Packaging Engineer based in Oak Brook IL responsible for the design planning validation and implementation of new packaging technologies product/package improvements line extensions and technical services. This role supports business objectives by delivering innovative cost-effective and high-performing packaging solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Youll add value to this role by performing various functions including but not limited to:
Lead and execute moderate to complex technical projects including cost savings quality improvements operational support and new product development.
Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams and lead packaging-related efforts during product development start-ups and ongoing support for internal and external manufacturing.
Serve as the technical lead for packaging initiatives directing activities of team members support staff or contractors as needed.
Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges to ensure projects are completed on time and meet business goals.
Design conduct and analyze experiments to validate packaging concepts and improvements.
Manage packaging development projects from concept through commercialization including specifications testing requirements in-process control points operating procedures and post-launch support.
Build and maintain relationships with external suppliers and industry groups (e.g. IoPP SPC) to stay informed of new technologies and best practices.
Identify opportunities for value creation through innovation cost reduction or process improvement.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Important Details:
This is a full-time hybrid role on first shift.
The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $65500 to $98300 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employees position within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to specific competencies relevant education qualifications certifications experience skills seniority geographic location performance shift travel requirements sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award bonus and equity pay.
Youll fit right in if you have:
Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in packaging development or engineering.
Strong ability to influence project direction through technical insight and collaboration.
Advanced skills in project management problem solving and technical communication.
Experience working cross-functionally with R&D suppliers and consultants.
Solid understanding of packaging materials including paperboard corrugate film plastics and glass.
Experience with TOPS/CAPE software strongly preferred.
Willingness to travel up to 30%.
