Job Description
Founding Forward Deployed Engineer / Technical Solutions Engineer
About the Role
As a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer youll own the success of enterprise customers as they deploy our platform at scale. This is a hands-on customer-facing role where technical skill adaptability and communication are just as important as code.
Youll work with everyone from government agencies to airlines to private equity customizing deployments and creating solutions that prove out real-world use cases. Because this is a founding hire youll also set the tone for how customer success is built scaling from early deployments to long-term adoption.
What Youll Do
- Customize and deploy Kafka and Hermes for real customer workflows.
- Build Based flows and create clear technical documentation.
- Deploy lightweight backend services (CRUD APIs microservices).
- Use prompt engineering to unlock new customer use cases.
- Partner directly with executives founders and senior leaders to ensure deployments succeed.
- Share customer insights with engineering sales and leadership to shape the product.
As a founding FDE youll go beyond execution to:
- Guide customers from presales demos through full adoption.
- Be the go-to technical expert in the room with leaders.
- Build playbooks and processes for future FDEs.
- Shape team culture and collaboration as we scale.
- Drive revenue and inform product direction in ways that directly impact ARR growth.
This is the role for someone who thrives on responsibility enjoys being the person others rely on to make it work and wants to leave fingerprints on the DNA of a company.
What Were Looking For
- Strong backend and deployment skills (NodeJS Python Typescript AWS).
- Experience working directly with customers especially at the exec/founder level.
- Comfortable customizing deployments and building lightweight services.
- Familiarity with OpenAI API Langchain/LangGraph HuggingFace is a plus.
- Excitement to take on outsized responsibility in a founding role.
Compensation & Details
- Salary: $110K $160K
- Equity: 0.10% 0.70%
- Work Policy: On-site in San Francisco (Union Square; moving to North Beach soon)
- Visa: OPT / TN visas possible; no H1B sponsorship currently.
