Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

The US/Global Grant Officer External Research & Grants provides leadership expertise and oversight for the execution and management of the Pfizer External Research & Grants (ER&G) program in specific therapeutic areas. The role includes independent research quality improvement and medical education with special attention to high needs regions as appropriate. The Pfizer ER&G program aligned with Pfizer business interests allows for the support of independent research and dissemination of emerging science to close knowledge and practice gaps while helping to build the capabilities of healthcare systems to plan for and manage change. We do this primarily by engaging external organizations (academia societies advocacy groups NGOs) to partner and collaborate on strategies and initiatives.

The role reports to the ER&G Global/US Medical Grants Lead and works closely with operations internal and external stakeholders to assess develop and implement a strategy for clinical areas that leverages grants to accelerate the translation of science and data into clinical care and practice.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The US/Global Grant Officer ER&G will be responsible for applying judgment to the review and decision-making process and will engage external stakeholders in appropriate dialog to ask and/or answer questions regarding strategy/goals/process etc. The US/Global Grant Officer will shepherd the review process through required workflows e.g. requests submitted in response to posted competitive grants programs; and engage with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders including collaborators and Expert Review Panel Members.

  • Develop and implement prioritized Research Learning & Change strategy aligned with assigned clinical or geographic areas
    • Defines and documents the needs research and practice gaps in partnership with internal stakeholders based on independent external data and leads the development of mutually aligned clinical area and regional goals.
    • Translates clinical strategies for appropriate implementation at the global and regional level (based on regional/country/local gaps)
    • Facilitates the development of ER&G strategy that leads to Request for Proposals (RFPs) coordinating development and posting of RFPs serves as liaison between the Expert Review Committee (ERP) and the grantees. Supports the development of a global and regional medical education strategy.
    • Provides oversight and direction to aligned Operational colleagues relative to the ER&G strategy in aligned therapeutic area
    • Final decision-maker for all Med Ed and QI grants in aligned therapeutic area
  • Relationship manager for grantees (Primary Investigator project lead project managers sites co-ops) internal stakeholders and collaborators
    • Execute Joint RFP Partnerships (includes partnership/collaboration agreements) for and with academia societies NGOs payers and other healthcare stakeholders to advance medical and scientific knowledge close data knowledge practice or performance gaps and/or impact change in the healthcare ecosystem.
    • Participate on Medical Affairs cross-functional team meetings
    • Liaison with Grant Administrators
    • Liaison with the operations team
    • Research/intervention program status oversight/grantee point-of-contact
  • Work in concert with Global and US Medical Affairs colleagues and RD colleagues
  • Work closely with Regional Grant Officers to ensure execution of Global strategies at the local level
  • Leadership roles globally representing Pfizer in relevant medical education and/or research communities
    • GO manages relationships with identified external stakeholders including ER&G partner relationships
  • Outcomes
    • Evaluates grant results publications other output for internal/external assessment purposes
    • Assists in development of aggregate outcomes reports

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience or Masters (MS MPH MBA) with at least 7 years or PhD/MD with at least 5 years.
  • Experience in clinical research setting(s) (e.g. clinical trial management data management etc.) adult education higher education quality improvement or relevant area. strongly preferred.
  • Preferred: 10 years of experience in the CME/CE/CPD arena either directly or indirectly. Global experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; consulting skills; trusted advisor; healthcare education/quality improvement expertise; problem solving; process management.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers develop and coach others oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities will likely cover multiple time zones and will require both domestic and international travel up to 10%. Occasional attendance at external stakeholder conferences and meetings as necessary. Global virtual meetings (with ER&G colleagues ERP members collaborators etc.) may require late PM or early AM calls during different time zones.


Work Location Assignment:Hybrid

This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156600.00 to $261000.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
