  • POSITION HOURS AND PAY:
    This position is for 8 hours per day at 260 days per year.
    Position pay: PSE Salary Schedule Level 12- $ 37.71


    GENERAL SUMMARY

    This positions responsibilities are to perform a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth delivery of technology services throughout the district; including but not limited to the installation maintenance and repair of district supported systems and devices. Provide technical support and problem resolution to all district technology users. Essential functions include diagnosing and resolving technical issues investigating and resolving user errors/issues providing a high level of customer service methodical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for district supported platforms and equipment.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Depending on the individual assignment AV / Computer / Telecommunications Technician may perform all or a combination of the following:

    1. Identifies problems and performs appropriate repairs or adjustments to technology equipment on-site or remotely; including but not limited to adjusting and cleaning equipment testing equipment to ensure proper operation and condition installing and maintaining a variety of software and equipment.

    2. Provide on-site and remote support instruction training and consultation to all users of electronic AV computer hardware and software applications telecommunication and all technology supported systems. Provide remote support utilizing all district resources; included but not limited to phones video conferencing remote software remote tools etc.

    3. Field all help desk calls from the District user base and create the initial record of the request; deliver technical customer support over the phone; identify troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical problems; work with the user to evaluate troubleshoot and resolve issues; guide users through step-by-step solutions.

    4. Respond to correspondence from the District user base seeking technical assistance and support. Identify and organize tickets (TSRs) according to priority. Troubleshoot issues communicate solutions to users provide training and follow-up with users to ensure issues have been resolved.

    5. Demonstrate effective and professional communication skills in verbal and written form. Adheres to departmental customer service standards and service level agreements.

    6. Maintain log of all work performed and processed; maintain log of service calls; meet assigned service deadlines; maintain service records; complete service forms; maintain notes and information not found in manufacturers service manual. Maintain parts and equipment inventory assigned to you for the completion of duties.

    7. Utilize assigned vehicles to travel to schools and other locations to provide on-site support. Maintain parts inventory in repair vans. Meet all technology maintenance and transportation guidelines for the operation of district vehicles.

    8. Collaborate strategically on the planning and completion of Technology projects. Assist Project Leads in defining the scope of the project creating detailed work plans and timelines problem solving impact mitigation resource allocation identifying material needs and researching material availability in coordination with appropriate department staff and in compliance with district standards and guidelines. Ensure that projects are efficiently undertaken and completed by using the most cost-effective materials and accessories. Execute project tasks according to the project plan and specifications.

    9. Ability to read understand and apply complex technical information; learn new technology; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population; guide technologically challenged users through multiple steps to diagnose computer-related issues.


    10. Maintains current knowledge of communication and computer technology including hardware and software phone systems networked systems other electronic and AV systems and upgrades. Participates in on-going professional development training on district supported platforms and retraining as required to adjust to changes within our workflows or instructional/operational products. Must have the ability to learn and support new platforms adopted by the district.

    11. Support MDM clients by creating and maintaining base images software deployment packages installer applications and configuration for deployment to client desktops laptops and mobile devices. Creating and maintaining mobile device application library licensing and deployment. Creating and maintaining master images for all client desktop and laptop systems.

    12. Program and maintain original and existing deployment scripts. Performs functional and validation testing of new and current deployments.

    13. Models appropriate cooperative and professional behavior and communication. Meets department dress and grooming standards. Consistently follows all district policies and ethical guidelines including district guidelines regarding confidentiality data security and the protection of confidential information.

    14. Work independently and collaboratively with interdepartmental teams to achieve common goals. May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

    15. Position activities may include providing in person or remote support for distance learning platforms student information systems network support MDM clients and help desk support.

    16. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or GED. Two (2) year technical certification strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of two (2) years experience working with Apple MacOS iOS Microsoft Windows 10 or higher strongly preferred.
    • Minimum two (2) years hardware troubleshooting experience.
    • Working technical knowledge of current protocols software and systems preferred.
    • Customer service experience preferred.
    • Experience with Google Apps for Education (Google Docs Google Sheets) preferred.


    Allowable Substitutions
    Completion of a technical course in audiovisual electronic phone system repair may substitute for one (1) year of the required work experience with allowance for such other alternatives to the above qualifications that the district may find appropriate and acceptable.

Ability to work well within a team and in a structured environment. Ability to communicate in a courteous and effective manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to exercise sound judgement including appropriate handling of confidential matters. Ability to use a ladder safely and operate at heights. Ability to properly lift and carry heavy items. Ability to maintain flexibility adapt to change and redirect work efforts as needed.

    Licenses/Special Requirements
    Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation abuse injury or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan. Valid Washington state drivers license and a good driving record. Must be able to drive a district repair vehicle. Must have or have the ability to acquire and maintain Apple certification for warranty work MDM certification PC certification and electronic technician certification. Must have the ability to acquire and maintain industry recognized certifications as required to support district adopted platforms and systems.


    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
    Reports to the Chief Technology Officer or designee.

    MENTAL DEMANDS
    Occasionally required to interact with distraught or difficult individuals; required to convey technical information to non-technical staff. Have the ability to work under stressful conditions created by frequent interruptions shifting priorities inflexible timelines and technical difficulties.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Required to stand for prolonged periods; frequently lifting ten (10) to twenty-five (25) pounds; required to lift and carry heavy objects and equipment weighing over fifty (50) pounds; exposed to visual display terminals for prolonged periods; required to travel to various work sites; required to work in cramped spaces and in non-routine positions.

    Passage of a pre-employment physical/testing is required of this position (the district will assume the cost.)
