Job Description

Associate Director Town Planning
Location: Bedford or Rugby (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: Competitive Dependent on Experience

A well-established employee-owned planning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Associate Director (Town Planning) to join their team at either their Bedford or Rugby office.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a chartered planning professional to take on a leadership role within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. The consultancy operates across a range of sectors and offers a broad portfolio of exciting projects within both the public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading on site promotion and local plan work
  • Providing expert planning advice to clients
  • Preparing for and attending hearings and public inquiries
  • Building and maintaining client relationships
  • Supporting business development and networking activity
  • Mentoring junior team members and overseeing project delivery

The position also involves helping to grow the consultancys presence in the East Midlands and East of England regions while contributing to a nationwide portfolio that includes residential commercial and specialist housing schemes.

Essential Criteria:

  • Chartered RTPI membership
  • Strong planning knowledge across a variety of development types
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and organised approach to project delivery
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience:

  • Public inquiry and hearing representation
  • Fee proposals and tender submissions
  • Project budgeting and invoicing
  • Staff mentoring and line management
  • Proven track record of business development
